Faith is believing in something even when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. Faith is an inner feeling. It’s something you feel with your soul. Faith is seeing with your inner eye. It’s a oneness with your inner self and with the Creator. It’s a quiet knowing of yourself and your interconnectedness with the Universe. You feel it somewhere in the center of your being.
Faith is trust and belief in oneself, the Universe and the Higher Power who is holding everything together. It’s trust in the infinite intelligence of the Universe that is taking care of everything that exists. It’s a knowing deep down that you are taken care of. It’s learning to trust yourself and having faith in yourself. It’s overcoming your fears. Faith in yourself and in the Universe gives you the courage you need to push the limits of your mind and discover your highest potential.
Faith is knowing that you are part of something greater than what your conscious mind can see and trusting in the unseen. It’s a reminder that there is so much more to life than meets the eye.
Instinctively, we all have inherent faith in the Universe that we exist in. When we wake up in the morning, we know that the day will unfold as it is supposed to. We leave the house trusting that we will be back home in the evening. We move across cities and continents with the faith that everything will go smoothly. We leave our children at school knowing that they will be back home in the evening. It’s the law of nature, the law of the Universe so to speak.
Then what happens to us when things go wrong? When the real tests come?
Many of us have been conditioned to believe since childhood that we have to do everything on our own and we need to be in control of everything if we want life to go a certain way. That creates mounting stress, anxiety and fear within us because life is unpredictable and cannot be controlled. We have no control over the outcome in our lives. Also, a lot of us grow up not being acknowledged and recognised for who we really are and so we do not have trust in our own abilities.
We become fearful. Fear and doubt is the opposite of faith. Fear is a lack of trust in ourselves, and because of this, we don’t trust life. We also don’t trust that we’re being taken care of on a higher level, so we feel we must control everything from the physical level.
We learn to trust when we overcome our fears. It’s called “taking a leap of faith” and trusting in the Power within that’s connected to Universal Intelligence. The Power that supplies our breath is the same Power that created the Universe.
Heal the root cause of your fears so that you can develop faith in yourself. And if you believe in a Higher Power, then have faith that you are guided. Faith is about trusting the process of life. It’s about letting go of the need to control every detail, allowing life to flow, and believing that the universe supports you.
However, letting go doesn’t mean that we don’t act. The difference is that you act from a place of trust and peace and not from fear. We have to do our best and surrender the outcome. So put in your best efforts, using your intuition and the best that you know.
The outcome is not in your hands, only the effort is. We do not have control over what happens to us in our life but we have full control over our response. And that is our biggest power. Faith means believing that whatsoever is happening in your life is for your highest good so how can it be bad for you? Faith also puts an end to the blame game and the feeling of being victimised.
Sometimes people experience a crisis of faith in God especially when they experience something negative. However, the pain and happiness we experience in our lives is linked to our Karma and has been decided by our Soul before we took birth, for the purpose of learning its lessons and evolve. It has nothing to do with God. Look for the lesson in times of trouble. What is your pain trying to tell you? The bad times are also a true test of your faith and surrender.
When you have faith and trust – patience follows. Faith is trusting in the divine timing of the Universe, even if it is beyond the realm of our understanding. Life is unfolding exactly how it is meant to. If you look back and join the dots – you will see that every wound you went through contained a wisdom, every struggle and suffering led to strength and every low point had a lesson. It has brought you to where you are today. The end of a traumatic relationship taught you the lesson of self-love.
A break-up with the wrong person helped you find the right partner. Being fired from your job led you to find your passion. A tight financial situation helped you to better manage your finances and abundance to grow. A disease or an illness made you pay attention to your body leading to increased good health. So have faith in the process of life and trust that it’s unfolding just as it’s meant to in order for you to grow.
When you have faith in yourself, courage follows automatically. You have inner conviction that you can achieve anything that you want. Nothing can hold you back. Faith leads to hope, peace, acceptance, patience, courage and optimism. A life that is filled with just the opposite like doubt, agitation, fear, blame and worry – would not be worth living. It’s not how we were meant to live and certainly not what we deserve.
Have faith that you’re right where you are meant to be and who you are meant to be, in any given moment. “None of us knows what might happen even in the next minute. Yet still we go forward. Because, we trust. Because, we have faith.” (Paulo Coelho)
I hope you find solace in knowing that you are loved and supported at all times. Look at Nature. It teaches us so much. The trees are rooted and one with the Universe. To quote a few lines from poet David Whyte’s ‘Reflections on Being Lost’: “What do I do if I get lost in the forest? Stand still. The Trees ahead and the bushes beside you are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here. Stand still. The forest knows where you are. You must let it find you.”
