Apple Introduces Next-Generation MacBook Air
Apple has officially launched the latest MacBook Air with M4 Chip, powered by the new M4 chip, offering enhanced performance and efficiency. The new MacBook Air with M4 Chip, available in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, boasts up to 18 hours of battery life, an upgraded 12 MP center stage camera, and improved external display support. The device was unveiled on March 5, 2025, and pre-orders are already open, with availability beginning March 12.
The M4 chip, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, features a 10-core CPU and an up to 10-core GPU, making it twice as fast as the M1-powered MacBook Air. Additionally, it supports up to 32GB of unified memory, ensuring seamless multitasking and enhanced computing capabilities. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Apple has also included a three-microphone array and support for Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos for an immersive sound experience.
AI Integration and Software Enhancements
Apple has integrated artificial intelligence-driven features into the MacBook Air, incorporating ChatGPT within Writing Tools and Siri. Users can access ChatGPT without an account, and Apple assures that privacy protections are in place, preventing IP tracking and storage of requests. The M4 chip’s Neural Engine is said to be three times faster than the one in the M1 model, optimizing AI-driven tasks such as photo enhancement and background noise removal.
Running on macOS Sequoia, the MacBook Air introduces features such as iPhone Mirroring, allowing users to control their iPhone directly from their Mac. Gaming enhancements include Personalized Spatial Audio and an improved Game Mode, along with access to popular titles like Civilization VII and Wuthering Waves.
Apple has also expanded the color options, introducing an all-new sky blue variant alongside existing finishes in midnight, starlight, and silver. Each device comes with a color-matched MagSafe charging cable.
Pricing and Sustainability Efforts
In India, the 13-inch MacBook Air with M4 Chip starts at ₹99,900, while the 15-inch model is priced at ₹1,24,900. In the United States, the 13-inch version is priced at $999, with a special education price of $899, while the 15-inch model is available for $1,199, with an education price of $1,099.
Apple emphasizes its commitment to sustainability with the MacBook Air with M4 Chip which features over 55% recycled materials. The enclosure is crafted from 100% recycled aluminum, and all magnets incorporate 100% recycled rare earth elements. The battery is composed of 100% recycled cobalt and over 95% recycled lithium, marking a first for any Mac product.
