India GST collections in September 2026 rose 14.7% year on year to ₹2.04 lakh crore, crossing the ₹2 lakh crore mark again. Higher revenue from domestic transactions and imports contributed to the increase, while lower refunds helped push net collections up at a faster rate.

Domestic and import revenue drive India gst collections September 2026

GST revenue from domestic transactions increased 10.1% to ₹1.38 lakh crore in September, compared with ₹1.25 lakh crore during the same month in 2025.

Revenue collected from imports recorded a sharper increase of 25.9%, reaching ₹65,525 crore from ₹52,031 crore a year earlier. The stronger growth in import-related GST was a notable part of the overall increase in collections.

Gross Integrated GST collections stood at ₹1.20 lakh crore in September, compared with ₹1.02 lakh crore in September 2025. Central GST collections reached ₹37,762 crore, while State GST collections stood at ₹45,363 crore.

Refunds declined during the month, supporting the increase in net revenue. Total GST refunds fell 3% to ₹27,001 crore from ₹27,848 crore a year earlier.

Domestic refunds declined 13.5% to ₹13,504 crore. Export GST refunds processed through ICEGATE, however, increased 10.2% to ₹13,497 crore.

After accounting for refunds, net GST collections rose 18.1% year on year to ₹1.77 lakh crore in September. Net domestic GST revenue increased 13.5% to ₹1.24 lakh crore, while net revenue from customs-related GST rose 30.8% to ₹52,028 crore.

The higher import-related collections also drew attention because the increase can include GST collected on both raw materials and finished goods.

India gst collections rise 11.6% from April to September 2026

The September numbers lifted total GST collections for the first 6 months of the financial year. Gross GST collections between April and September 2026 increased 11.6% to ₹12.46 lakh crore from ₹11.17 lakh crore during the corresponding period of 2025 26.

Net GST collections for the same period increased 10.4% to ₹10.66 lakh crore from ₹9.65 lakh crore a year earlier.

The state-level data also showed growth across several major business markets. Maharashtra recorded GST revenue of ₹29,986 crore in September, an increase of 15% from a year earlier.

Karnataka collected ₹13,884 crore, up 16%, while Gujarat recorded ₹12,222 crore, representing 17% growth. Uttar Pradesh and Telangana both recorded 18% growth during the month.

Uttar Pradesh collected ₹8,882 crore in September, while Telangana recorded ₹5,327 crore.

For Indian businesses, the September figures provide data on tax revenue generated through domestic economic activity, imports, and exports. The increase in net collections also reflects the effect of lower refunds during the month.
