Introduction of the Roadster X Series
Ola Electric launched its latest range of electric motorcycles, the Roadster X series, in India on Wednesday. The new lineup includes two models — the Ola Electric Roadster X and Roadster X+ — and is available in five different variants. These electric bikes are built on Ola’s scalable motorcycle platform and feature cutting-edge technologies such as a mid-drive motor, integrated motor control unit (MCU), and a brake-by-wire system with single ABS.
The Roadster X series promises impressive performance, offering a claimed range of up to 501 kilometers (IDC). Additionally, the bikes are equipped with flat cables designed for better efficiency and reduced weight. The models were initially showcased during the Sankalp 2024 event held in Tamil Nadu at Ola’s FutureFactory in August.
Pricing and Variants of Roadster X Series
The Ola Electric Roadster X is available as the entry-level option, with a starting price of ₹74,999. Buyers can choose from 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5kWh battery configurations. Meanwhile, the Roadster X+ starts at ₹1,04,999 and comes with a 4.5kWh battery pack, with the option to upgrade to a larger 9.1kWh variant. The bikes are available in a variety of colours, including Industrial Silver, Anthracite, Stellar Blue, Pine Green, and Ceramic White. Customers will also enjoy a standard warranty of three years or 50,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. Deliveries for the Roadster X series are set to begin in mid-March.
Specifications and Features of the Roadster X Series
The Ola Electric Roadster X series stands out with its mid-drive motor and chain drive technology, offering superior performance and reliability. The bikes are powered by the new MoveOS 5, which brings smart features such as a smartwatch app, Smart Park, and Bharat Mood. Additional capabilities include live location sharing and emergency SOS features, enhancing safety for riders. The Roadster X is equipped with a 7kW motor and a claimed IDC range of up to 252 kilometers with the 4.5kWh battery.
It accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 118 km/h. The Roadster X+ variant, with its 9.1kWh battery, boasts a range of up to 501 kilometers, making it ideal for longer trips. Powered by an 11kW motor, it accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of 125 km/h.
Both models are equipped with advanced safety features, including geo-fencing, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and tamper and fall-detection alerts. The Roadster X+ also comes with the proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell, which offers significantly more energy, faster charging, and a longer range compared to conventional lithium-ion cells. Notably, the Roadster Pro was also introduced during the Sankalp 2024 event but has not yet been launched as part of the Roadster X series.
With its innovative features, impressive range, and strong performance, the Ola Electric Roadster X series is expected to capture the attention of electric motorcycle enthusiasts in India.
