The Department of Economics at Deithor Adarsha College, in partnership with its Counselling and Placement Cell, recently concluded a one-day workshop aimed at helping students and their families make informed academic and career decisions. Titled ‘Career Counselling’, the event was specially curated for students who have recently completed their Class 10 and 12 examinations, along with their parents. The workshop sought to address the challenges and uncertainties faced by young learners in today’s dynamic educational and professional landscape.
Dr. Deepak kumar bora, the principal of the deithor adarsha college, inaugurated the workshop with a welcome address that underscored the importance of timely and informed career planning. Emphasizing how early guidance can help students stay ahead in their academic journey, Dr. Bora encouraged participants to fully absorb the insights shared by the resource speakers and use them to shape a focused, purposeful path ahead.
Expert Sessions Provide Academic and Career Insights
The workshop featured a series of informative lectures by faculty members, designed to familiarize students and parents with contemporary academic trends and emerging opportunities in higher education. Dr. Neelakshi Sharma, the college’s Librarian, delivered a key session on ‘Career Exploration and Understanding Current Academic Trends’. In her presentation, she highlighted the importance of aligning personal interests with emerging career options and spoke about the academic disciplines that students should consider in light of the evolving job market.
Following Dr. Sharma’s session, Dr. Debajit Bhuyan, Assistant Professor in the Economics Department, addressed the audience on ‘Various Programmes in Different Higher Institutes and Specific Academic Fields’. He provided an overview of the academic programs offered by reputed institutions across the country and shed light on the diverse specializations students could pursue. His lecture offered valuable direction for those unsure about which path to take after high school.

The event witnessed active participation from 24 students and their parents representing various schools from the region. The workshop proved to be a vital initiative in bridging the gap between students’ aspirations and practical steps required to achieve their goals. It also helped parents gain a better understanding of the academic landscape and how they could support their children’s ambitions.
Concluding the workshop, Dr. Brajen Sharma, Assistant Professor from the Assamese Department, delivered the vote of thanks. He appreciated the efforts of the faculty and the enthusiasm of the attendees. Dr. Sharma encouraged students to remain committed, work diligently, and pursue their goals with clarity and determination.
