Reliance Jio introduced new Jio safety features features for its JioBharat phones at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025. The initiative aims to strengthen digital safety and ensure reliable connectivity for Indian families using Jio’s entry-level mobile platform.
The Safety-First suite focuses on secure communication, remote monitoring, and device health management. Jio said the update is designed to make everyday mobile use safer, especially for households with children and older adults.
Family-focused safety tools
The Jio safety features feature includes four main components — Location Monitoring, Usage Manager, Phone and Service Health, and Always Available.
Location Monitoring enables family members to track the real-time location of their loved ones through the JioBharat device. Usage Manager helps control calls, messages, and app access, allowing guardians to block unwanted numbers and restrict unsuitable content.
The Phone and Service Health function provides alerts about battery levels and network performance, helping ensure uninterrupted connectivity. The Always Available feature supports up to seven days of battery backup, maintaining communication even in low-power situations.
Jio said the features were developed to provide simple but meaningful safety tools that do not require advanced digital literacy.
Affordable and accessible rollout
According to Jio, the new Jio safety features capability addresses the diverse safety needs of Indian households. The company said it supports safe communication for children without exposure to social media, keeps senior citizens reachable with location and health updates, and offers women greater security during travel.
At IMC 2025, Jio demonstrated real-world scenarios where the feature improved family coordination and safety. The company said the initiative aligns with its goal of delivering affordable innovation to every Indian household.
Sunil Dutt, president of Reliance Jio, said the new Jio safety features reflects Jio’s mission to make technology more people-centric. “Technology should connect, protect, and empower,” Dutt said. “The Safety-First update represents a practical step toward safer communication for millions of users.”
The Safety-First-enabled JioBharat phones are now available at Jio Stores, leading retail outlets, JioMart, Amazon, and Swiggy Instamart. Prices start at ₹799.
With this launch, Jio continues to focus on expanding access to secure, affordable digital tools for Indian users, reinforcing its position as a key player in inclusive mobile technology.
